The essential oil of citronella is obtained by the steam distillation of the grass of Cymbopogon nardus rendle. Citronella oil has a pale yellow to thick yellow colour, with a crisp, lemony aroma.

Citronella, an essential oil distilled from a type of lemongrass, has long been regarded as a “natural” mosquito repellent. 

Before applying citronella oil to your skin, it should be diluted with a carrier oil, like coconut or jojoba oil, in a 1:1 ratio. Rub the mixture into your skin, or spray some on your clothes and hair. You can also add a few drops of citronella essential oil to your bath, shampoo, soap, lotion or body wash.

It is reputed to reduce muscles spasms, ease headaches, and boost energy. Used cosmetically or topically in general, Citronella Essential Oil can deodorize and refresh foul body odors, eliminate head and body lice, slow the look of aging, enhance skin health, and improve skin's absorption of moisture.
