VITAMIN C ( Ascorbic acid )

              VITAMIN C

            Ascorbic  acid

                  .........

Vitamin C is abundantly present in citric fruits. We as humans are unable to synthesize our own vitamin C. Consumption of vitamin C is thus necessary for human survival.

Like humans, other animals unable to synthesize vitamin C can always find a supply of it in other organisms that synthesize it on their own, namely plants. Humans who consume regular portions of fresh fruit (or tablets, which are less effective) will avoid the consequences of not making their own vitamin C.

Ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, meaning that your body doesn't store it. You have to get what you need from food, including citrus fruits, broccoli, and tomatoes.

Why can't humans make their own vitamin C?

                ...............

During evolution, some species including humans, monkeys and fruit bats lost the ability for ascorbic acid (AA) biosynthesis due to inactivation of the enzyme l-gulono-lactone oxidase (GLO) and subsequently became dependent on dietary vitamin C. Your body needs vitamin C to work properly. Without enough vitamin C in your body, you can start to feel very ill.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a nutrient your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body's healing process.

The recommended daily amount for vitamin C is 75 milligrams (mg) a day for women and 90 mg a day for men. During pregnancy, 120 mg a day are recommended. The upper limit for all adults is 2,000 mg a day.

Mangoes contain ample amounts of vitamin A and C, both of which have an important role in skin regeneration and maintenance of skin integrity. They also clean skin pores and prevent acne. Good for eyes: Mango is loaded with nutrients and vitamins, which is known to promote eye health.
